Why is it so hard to say “I miss you”?
Sometimes the simplest words are the ones we keep inside us the longest.
Narration generated with a synthetic voice.

I open a conversation on my phone. I type a few words. I delete them. I tell myself it is not the right moment, that the other person has things to do, that perhaps they will misunderstand me.
I miss you. So little to write. So much to admit.
When I was a child, I ran towards the person I missed. I did not make a plan. I did not wonder whether I was showing too much. My body knew the way before my mind began to complicate it.
Now I protect myself with explanations. I am busy. We will talk in a few days. Surely they know. But do they? Do I always know when someone misses me?
There are also people I miss whom I can no longer send a message. Those words have no address. Sometimes I say them in my mind, and I do not know whether they reach anywhere. I only know that afterwards, the silence feels a little different.
I do not want to turn every fear into a rule for other people. Not every door needs to be reopened. But there are people I love from whom I hide for no reason.
I look at the phone again. This time, I leave the words there.
Now stay with yourself for a moment.
